Proposition 11: Redistricting
Regional Chamber Position: SUPPORT
This proposition reforms the way our state elected officials redraw their district boundaries every ten years. This process, known as redistricting, is widely considered a conflict of interest. Specifically, this proposition removes that responsibility from our elected officials and places it in the hands of a 14-person citizen redistricting commission. The commission will be politically balanced: five democrats, five republicans, and four individuals that are not registered with one of the two major parties. Commissioners would be chosen for their impartiality, skills, and to reflect our State’s demographic and geographic diversity.
Measure R: Traffic Relief Rail Extensions, Reduce Foreign Oil Dependence
Regional Chamber Position: OPPOSE
Metropolitan Transportation Authority proposed 1/2 cent sales tax increase for Los Angeles County does NOT allocate funds in a fair share back to the communities that generate the funds. This inequitable distribution will hinder the completion of the Gold Line Foothill Extension and other San Gabriel Valley projects.
Measure RR – Mount San Antonio Community College, Classroom Repair, Education Improvement, Public Safety/Job Training Measure

This measure extends a plan already passed by voters to implement essential College upgrades. The Regional Chamber is neutral on Propositions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 12.
